Billic - A bit of a worry
|
Now I loved last season, let me get that in first but is anyone else a little bit worried about this season and our manager? Two major things are sticking out for me, the first is obviously pushing Antonio to right back when he is a winger but the other point, that seems to be swept under the carpet, is that it is now two players he has fallen out with. First Amafitano and now Sakho. Quite a worrying trait in a manager and I hope it is not going to be an ongoing issue. Lets be honest Sakho is our best striker and we are crying out for one at the moment... I just feel that there shouldn't be big issues between players and manager.

Has anyone noticed that we haven't had a goal scored by a named striker as of yet?
Collins - defender Antonio - winger / RB Lanzini - Midfielder

I'm a fan of Tomkins and said from the start we should not sell him, suspect injury/fitness has slow his start for CP.

True but he has to wait for his chance to break in to the team.
I don't think he was a "bad" player for us and I would even say underrated at times but I accept he had his shortcomings. In my opinion Tomkins would be more at home on the bigger pitch at the Olympic Stadium rather than Collins whose lack of speed will be exploited.

Many of us said it was a bad decision to sell Tomkins and it hasn't taken long for that view to be proved. Tomkins had his faults but he was quick and could of course fill in at right back.

If he drops Lanzini, he should be kicked in the head on his way out the door.

Biggest worry of bilic is the whole team as a defensive unit don't have a scooby. This didn't start this season, it started end of last. Selling one of your best defenders, for money but many will say it's a business now. Well here's the consequence of that business. Bilic just doesn't have a clue who should be in defence, very strange.

Have to admit I don't see the single Watford game, or the start to the season as that big a deal.
Watford is the only game we shold have won that we lost. But we had our 2 reserve full backs playing, one a 22 year old prospect, and we got done by two unlucky goals (keeper deflection and the mix up) and two the keeper could have done better with.
Man City away and Chelsea away...we lost, had a weakened squad against two of the best teams in the league, and got screwed by refereeing decisions too.
The Romanians was one of those days...on another day we'd have won 5-1 but the ball just wouldn't drop in and out finishing was poor.
There's a lot of over reaction at the moment. Yes we should have won at the weekend. And we capitulated a bit to concede 4 ala Bournemouth last year. But seriously...it's not time to throw in the towel.
Byram couldn't cope with Ighalo, and they played on it. Collins not being the most mobile didn't help things, and obviously was involved in the fuck up for the second. Even the first was unlucky as Adrian had it covered until the deflection.
And as for WBA. Chances are we will batter them and all Will be right with the world.
The only concern I have is that our defence is so leaky, and this tends to be more with Bilic's tactics (nd how consistently the players execute them). It relies on the whole team defending and attacking in numbers together, but too often we get caught high up the pitch. Plus we should have gone for a centre half upgrade.
This will still be a great season though.

We do get outmuscled in some games in the midfield but not sure if that's more to do with the shape of the team.

Midfield for me is the area that we must be looking to change for the trip to WBA
We must offer more protection to the defence
Drop Lanzini and bring in Obiang

I'm more concerned with the centre of the park. Our 2 offer the defence fuck all protection

Not really, he was fucking up the defence most of the end of last season playing Antonio at right back
